Kosovo runs one of the simplest tax systems in Europe: one corporate rate, no tax on dividends, and a personal income tax that tops out at 10%. This page lists every rate that touches a business owner, with the deadlines and the fine print most summaries skip.

All rates in one table (2026)

Corporate tax: 10%, and what sits around it

A Kosovo company pays 10% on profit. Resident companies are taxed on worldwide income, non-residents only on what they earn in Kosovo. Three details worth knowing:

  • Small business regime. Below €30,000 in annual gross income you do not pay corporate tax on profit at all. Instead you pay a quarterly tax on gross receipts: 3% for trade, transport and similar activities, 9% for services.
  • What Kosovo does not have. No controlled foreign company rules and no thin capitalisation rules. Transfer pricing rules do exist (since 2017, following the OECD guidelines), so invoices between your own companies need a market price.
  • Deductions are ordinary. Business expenses are deductible, representation costs are capped at 1% of gross income, and equipment depreciates at 20% a year.

Dividends: the 0% that makes the difference

Kosovo does not tax dividends. There is no withholding when the company pays out, and a resident shareholder does not pay income tax on what they receive. In most countries the corporate rate is only the first layer and the dividend tax is the second. In Kosovo the chain ends after the 10%: on €100,000 of profit, €90,000 reaches you.

Personal income tax

Salary, including the one you pay yourself, is taxed progressively: nothing on the first €3,000 a year, 8% on the next slice up to €5,400, and 10% on everything above. On top come the mandatory pension contributions of 5% from the employee and 5% from the employer. There is no wealth tax.

VAT

The standard rate is 18%, modelled on the EU VAT Directive. Registration is mandatory above €30,000 in annual turnover, and for anyone who imports or exports. Services exported to clients abroad are generally invoiced without Kosovo VAT, which is why most internationally oriented service companies charge their foreign customers 0%. Your accountant confirms the treatment per service.

Deadlines and filing

  • The tax year is the calendar year.
  • The annual corporate return is due on 31 March of the following year.
  • Above €30,000 in income you make quarterly advance payments: 15 April, 15 July, 15 October and 15 January.
  • Withheld taxes are paid by the 15th of the following month.

In practice a local accountant runs all of this for €100 to €200 per month, depending on volume.

Tax treaties

Kosovo has double tax treaties in place with more than 20 countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Ireland and the United Arab Emirates. The network is smaller than an EU member state's, so check your own country before you plan around a treaty rate.

The fine print: who actually gets these rates

The rates above apply to people and companies that are genuinely tax resident in Kosovo. A company registered in Pristina but run from a kitchen table in a high-tax country will be taxed where that kitchen table stands. The numbers only work if you move: your home, your days and your management. Your home country's rules on leaving decide the rest, and that is the first thing a serious advisor checks.
